Support for Using Emacs/VM for Reading and Sending Mail on a Mac

Description

I've collected together some programs and files that may be useful to people who want to read and send mail using Emacs/VM on Mac OS X, but you'll have to put quite a bit of work into building and configuring everything.

Mail is queued and sent to an SMTP host using the Standard ML program msmtp-queue, which relies on msmtp (see http://msmtp.sourceforge.net/).

Mail is retrieved from an IMAP or POP server using fetchmail (see http://fetchmail.berlios.de/).

There are instructions for starting the msmtp-queue and fetchmail daemons upon Mac startup.

There is a Mac application called Mail Check for keeping track of whether unread mail has been retrieved or unsent mail is currently queued.

Comments or requests are welcome, but I make no promises about providing help. Everything is open source; feel free to do with it what you wish.

The collection of programs, scripts, startup files, and information is available as a compressed tarball or for browsing.
