About my name

Sakthiyuvaraja Sakthivelmurugan (Pronounced: Saq thee you va raa jaa, Saq thee whale moo roo gun), it's a combination of many common names which makes it quite big and tough to pronounce name. The surname is actually my fathers name. We (as in our region in the state) stopped using family/caste name due to various reasons, so the father's name is used as the surname by most people.

I go with Sakthi (Saq thee) here. And I'm introducing me to people here in US as Sakthi, since it will pretty difficult to pronounce my full name. Even then many do find it difficult to get Sakthi correct in the first instance. I don't insist them call me phonetically correct, I just want to make sure that I get their attention if they are asking for me. I will glad in helping anyone in trying to call me by my full name ;) I'm also known as Yuvaraj and Raja.

Sakthi meaning sacred force, power or energy also refers to the Hindu Godess Sakthi. And Yuvaraj means Crowned Price. Thanks to my Grandfather who is a devotee of Lord Shiva and a higly spiritual person who named me.

I'm not the only one affected by the long name syndrome in my family:
