• Installed Visual Studio 2003 and Visual Studio 2005. I encountered few problems while trying to install 2005 over 2003, but  could come over it after uninstalling Framework 2.0 .Started Reading about ASP. NET 2.0.

• Completed the portal schema and started working on the Page Provider.

• Completed coding of Page  provider . Started working on the Site Map Provider.

• Completed coding of Site Map Provider  provider.

• I had lot of problems in implementing this provider. The tree view using the site map provider was getting cached in memory and had to rebuild provider library , every time a modification is made to the tree view control. In order to remove the site map from the application , a cache dependency needs to be set up with the site map and whenever the dependency is invalidated, the site map is automatically invalidated. The Oracle Cache dependency is inherited from the Cache dependency class and the delegates (with ODP.NET) are used to perform, the invalidation.

• Started working on the Portal Pages.

April 15,2006

• Completed the Admin section of the Portal.

• Functionalities for managing users, managing roles, pages creation, updating and deleting is implemented.

• Project demo to Dr.Andreson, later this week.

April 23,2006

• Started working on the testing part of the provider model

• Planning to use NUnit for functional testing and ANTS , Microsoft Application Center Test for Performance and Loading testing of the portal built using the Provider Model

April 30,2006

• Completed the testing of the Provider Model and started working on the remaining documentation.

May 02,2006

• Meeting with Dr.Andreson and submitted  a preliminary copy of the report to Dr.Andresen.

• Professor suggested changes to the Performance documentation and few other small changes.
