To be brief about my life, I lived for the past 22 years in the city of Baghdad, Iraq, where I witnessed and lived through all the major events which happened over the past two decades (i.e. three wars). I lived amidst one of the most vivid areas of Baghdad which its name is "Karrada." This name was derived from the name of special machine which has the same function of water wheel, but it was used instead for irrigation purposes.

I graduated from Al-Mansour university in Baghdad with a B.Sc. in Computer Science and I was ranked the third among 138 other fellow students. Having a good head on my shoulders helped me next to win the Fulbright scholarship with other thirty Iraqi candidates (from among 3,000 applicants) at 2006. I spent two years in Manhattan, Kansas (The Sunflower State) at Kansas state university, working on my M.Sc., which I finished in September, 2008. Kansas is also famous for its tornadoes (The Wizard of Oz) with whom I was in close encouter at June, 2008 (a really close one!). My adviser there was Dr. Andresen who provided me with invaluable support and advice along the way.

I am generally interested in kernel-space and user-space programming and I do web programming and design as a hobby (e.g. this site). I also enjoy fine-art photography and attend film screenings in my spare time[]

I am currently a passive member of lamusediffuse, which is a collaborative team exploring the forms, impact, and possibilities of electronic technologies in contemporary culture. It started as a group of Fulbright Scholars from different parts of the World, sharing a common interest in improving lives of the individuals by improving access to culture through digital technologies and their creations.

The group is interested in the Social Web’s possibilities for cultural dissemination and understanding among different areas of the world. The group also believes that social software has a huge potential for making culture accessible in and about developing countries and areas under conflict. For this reason the group is fully committed to implement initiatives on those cultural spheres of the world and to use different languages to spread a diverse idea of culture on the web.

Leadership Inheritance Algorithm to optimize the Group Management Protocol of the environmental programming paradigm for sensor networks: EnviroTrack.

Molecular Dynamics Toolkit A toolkit used as an aid in the research of developing pore-forming peptides suitable for clinical use as a channel replacement therapeutic for treating channelopathies such as cystic fibrosis. It also extended the possibilities of computer modeling by implementing energy minimization and molecular dynamics algorithms to model the pores formed by the assembly of these peptides.

XSLT Parser Binding for Ocaml a minimal XSLT parser binding for Ocaml language which is used to parse the XML documents to corresponding HTML documents[]

These are bunch of photos which I took on the fly with my Sony Cybershot DSC-W55. It's not a professional camera (like the bulky ones), but it fits in my pocket and it's ideal to capture those moments when my eyes fall upon an attractive urban or rural scene[]

This site was implemented entirely using Quanta+, Vim, JQuery, script.aculo.us, PHP, some flash image viewers and finally with the help of Firebug. The layout was implemented using Gimp. If you are interested in the site design then drop me a message using the contact form.
