1. Student Competition Award:
Starting from 2006 annual meeting, OCEA will establish student competition award program. The purpose of this program is to encourage young Entomologists to participate in OCEA activities and to enhance their enthusiasm in Entomological profession. Three awards will be given during 2006 annual meeting: first place, second place, and third place. Each receiver will receive a certificate plus $100, $75, and $50, respectively. Details for application, selection, and awarding will be given later.

3. More Basic Research in China:
China announced an ambitious plan Thursday, February 9, 2006 to raise the level of science and technology in its industry
and  military,  vowing to double research investment during the next  15  years to increase  "overall national strength. More
